There is no better way to understand a place than going there to draw or paint it.

Each mark I draw or paint onto paper or canvas helps me to remember a place. The resulting image becomes a record of my journey and the time I spent there.

Each day after setting out from Seaforth, we crossed the vast glassy sea under pinnacles of cloud to reach our destination within the unique group of Cumberland Islands - from the relaxing hoop pine outcrops of Shaw, the split rock cliffs of Mayer to the majesty of Pentecost with its north face rising from of the ocean.
