Fun and colourful Block printing Workshop with Brigitte Zimmermann. Brigitte has over thirty years
teaching art practice and is a member of Printbank Mackay and Mackay Art Society. Friends say she has teaches half of Mackay in printmaking.

Cost:  $ 120 members  $140 non members (membership till July 1st is only $25 for seniors $30 others and workshops all year)

Where: The Mackay Art Society Building Beaconsfield

When: 20th,  21st March, 8.30 for 9am start - 4pm Saturday , and 9am-3.00pm Sunday.

Brigitte will be guiding artists through different stages of printing without a press: like blockprinting with Ezy Carve (waterbased Ink) and colourful mono printing with a Gel Printing plate with Acrylic. The monoprint, we will use it as background for block printing. Most materials are included.

Learning Blockprinting:

Ezy Carve (small sister of Lino or Vinyl) is easier to carve, like butter and very economical because both sides can be used. Block printing is made from a design carved on a block and we will use    Lino cut tools. The raised uncarved section of the image will print, and the carved sections will be white. We will experiment with reverse writing, transfer a sketch on a block, fun with mono printing and make your own name stamp.

Mono printing:

Gel printing plate has endless possibilities and is fun and colourful. We will use some leaves or found objects.
